Organizations

An organization, such as a chamber of commerce or an association with several chapters, holds one or more groups. Organization staff can manage groups, members, referrals and reports across the whole organization.

Create an Organization

Open the Quick menu (the grid icon in the top header) and choose Create Organization. Enter the Organization Name. You become the organization's Administrator.

Organization Roles

  • Administrator: manages the entire organization. Can add and remove members, create and delete groups, assign group managers, and handle payment settings.
  • Staff: the same access as Administrator, except payment settings.
  • Employee: can open the organization dashboard, files and reports, but cannot manage the organization.
  • Member: no extra privileges beyond belonging to the organization.

There are two levels of roles: the organization level and the group level. Staff and Administrators automatically have access to view and manage every group in the organization, so they do not need a role in each group.

Organization Menu

Your organizations are listed in the left menu. Click one to open it. The organization menu contains Dashboard, Groups, Referrals, Members, Contacts, Files, Reports and, for Administrators and Staff, Settings.

Manage Groups

Click Groups in the organization menu to manage the organization's groups.

  • Create Group: creates a new group that belongs to the organization. The organization needs a subscription for this: an unused group seat from your subscription. If you do not have one, you are asked to purchase one from the Subscription tab of My Account. See Plans and Billing.
  • Add Existing Group: adds groups you created earlier to the organization. Select the groups and click Assign Selected Groups. All members of those groups are added to the organization as Members.
  • You can also unassign a group from the organization or delete it.

Organization Members

Administrators and Staff can add people to the organization. Open Members and click Add User, enter their e-mail and choose a role. Other members of the organization, and group organizers who are not organization Administrators or Staff, cannot add people or assign organization roles.

People are also added to the organization automatically when they join one of its groups.

Update a Member

You can give a member access to specific groups. Click Edit for the member, then the plus sign (+) next to Group-level Access. Select a group and the member's role in it, Manager or Member.

Remove a Member

On the Members page, click Remove next to the member. Removing someone from the organization also removes them from all of the organization's groups.

Removing a member from a single group does not remove them from the organization. If a member has left entirely, remove them from the organization as well.

Cross-Group Settings

In the organization's Settings > Additional Settings:

  • Cross group lookup: adds a Show entire organization members option to each group's Members page, so members can see everyone in the organization. Turning it on also connects all the organization's members with each other in My Network.
  • Cross group activity: lets members send referrals to members of other groups in the organization.

The organization Settings page also includes e-mail settings and templates for e-mails sent on the organization's behalf.

Dashboards for Your Groups

Administrators and Staff can set one dashboard layout for every group in the organization. Open any of the organization's groups, click Edit dashboard, arrange the widgets, and save with All groups in (organization). Turn off Groups can change this layout if the groups should not be able to change it. See Customize the Dashboard.

API Tokens

Administrators and Staff can connect another system, such as a CRM, to the organization under Settings > API.

  1. Enter a Token name (for example, "CRM sync") and click Create token.
  2. Copy the token right away. It is shown only once.
  3. The list shows each token's name, when it was created and when it was last used. Revoke stops a token immediately.

A token can read the organization's referrals and send referrals in the name of its Employees, Staff and Administrators. It cannot read private referral details. See the Organization API.
