Members

Roles

Each member of a group has one of three roles:

  • Member: can open the group dashboard, send referrals, report 1-to-1s, add guests, view meetings, upload files and run reports.
  • Manager: everything above, plus add and remove members, manage meetings and attendance, and record referrals and 1-to-1s on behalf of members.
  • Organizer: everything above, plus change group settings and delete the group. Organizers also receive messages and RSVPs from guests through the group's public page.

{info} Give your group's leaders, such as the President and Vice President, the Organizer role. Give the people who help run the group the Manager role. You can have as many managers as you need.

Add Members

Group managers can add members. Go to Members and click Add New. There are two ways to add people:

  • Add existing people: pick from people you already know in ChamberForge, such as the group's guests, former members, or people in your organization.
  • Paste a list of e-mails: paste one or many e-mail addresses. New rows are added as you type.

Choose a role for each person and click Send Invites. Progress is shown row by row.

  • People who already have a ChamberForge account receive an invitation. They join the group when they accept it, from the e-mail or from their Pending requests page.
  • People without an account receive an e-mail inviting them to sign up. They join the group automatically when they finish registering through that link.

{info} If an invited person signs up on their own with a different e-mail address instead of using the invitation link, they are not added to the group automatically. Invite them again using the e-mail address they registered with.

Pending Invitations

Invitations that have not been accepted yet are listed under Pending invitations. On the Members page, open the arrow next to Add New to find it. From there you can Re-send an invitation or Copy Invite Link to share it another way.

Member Limits

Each group plan has a member limit: 15 members on the free plan, 30 on Group, 50 on Group Plus and 100 on Group Max. When a group is full, adding, inviting, approving applications and joining by code all stop with a message that the group has reached its maximum member limit, along with the plan to upgrade to. For more than 100 members, contact us about an Enterprise plan. See Plans and Billing.

Update a Member

Managers can open a member's page and choose Edit to change the member's Group Role and join date.

The join date is used by the Attendance Report. For example, if a member joined on March 15 and you run the report for the whole year, meetings before March 15 are not counted against them. Set the correct join date for every member so attendance percentages are accurate.

Edit a Member's Profile

A member's profile belongs to the member. Managers cannot edit it unless the member gives permission.

  1. On the member's page, the manager chooses Menu > Request profile edit access.
  2. The member sees the request on their Pending requests page and chooses Accept or Reject.
  3. If accepted, the group's managers can edit the member's profile for 7 days. The member can end this early with Remove access (in My Account > Groups > Manage access).

Even with access, managers can never change a member's e-mail address or phone numbers. Access also ends if the member leaves or is removed from the group.

Member Activities

Click any member's name to see their page. It shows their activity in the group, including referrals given and received, 1-to-1s, guests invited, business closed and meetings attended.

Remove a Member

Managers can remove a member from the member's page with Menu > Remove from group. Former members are listed under Past members (in the arrow menu next to Add New on the Members page), where Add back to group restores them.

When a member is removed:

  • They lose access to the group but keep their ChamberForge account.
  • Their membership dues subscription for the group, if any, is cancelled.
  • They are also removed from the group's organization, if it has one.
  • Their activity stays in the group's reports. Use the Members filter in reports to include or exclude past members.

Leave a Group

To leave a group, go to My Account > Groups and click Leave, or open your own member page in the group and click Leave group.

The person who created a group cannot leave it. They must transfer ownership to another member or delete the group.

Send E-mail to Members

Group managers can e-mail the members of their group. On the Members page, open the arrow next to Add New and choose Send e-mail.
